Isabel Servera
Mallorcan visual artist Isabel Servera translates her hand-drawn line technique to our Textured Capsule Havana Gingham and our Eco Lycra Pantelleria Check in our new High Summer '23 collection.
Her practice focuses on painting and manual processes involving repetition, accumulation and routines, at times taken to the extreme. Choosing unlikely palettes from varied chromatic scales, Servera creates an illusion to the eye, a moment of hypnosis that takes us to the places we can only dream of.

1. Where is your favourite beach (anywhere in the world)?
My favorite beach is “Cala Torta”. It’s a small sandy bay from Artà in the northeast of Mallorca, which is my hometown. The beach has white sand, turquoise water and it’s in the nature reserve. It’s where I grew up and I have many fond memories there. Whenever I can, I go.
2. What will you be listening to + reading this Summer?
I’ve just started to read “Untamed” by Glennon Doyle, I’m enjoying it a lot. What I’m listening to right now - I really love “Oques Grasses”, a band from Catalonia, Spain. They are so joyful and I love their lyrics. If I want something more low-key, I love Kirta yoga music or a podcast.
3. What place has incited the most inspiration for your work?
My studio, in Barcelona, of course. I stay in an old factory building, this is my place. However, I really love to walk around the city or through the mountains or on the beach (I grew up on an island). Walking is always a good activity to be inspired.
4. A lot of your work relies on repetition as a technique, is this a process of meditation for you?
In some way yes, this kind of practice hooks me, but when I get involved in these processes I listen to podcasts, music or watch a film… My practice focuses on painting and manual processes involving repetition, accumulation and routines, sometimes taken to the extreme. I’m really interested in the craftsmanship process related to painting and art.
5. What’s in store for you in 2023?
In May I’m going to NYC for the first time, I’m so excited. Last August I won the Barbara H. Weil Award, and the prize is a residence for ten days in NYC. Also, I’m preparing an art exhibition for next September in Girona, Spain.
